This morning I enjoyed one of life’s little pleasures I often take for granted; waking up next to my loved one. This time last year my husband was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan where he served a tour with our Allied Nations.
We didn’t have the opportunity to communicate often, at most 10 days would pass before I heard anything. No amount of information prepares you for the trials & tribulations that follow the moment you kiss them goodbye at the airport. As the months pass you discover things about yourself you never even knew you were capable of, and the family & friends who supported you in all that time you never forget.
To the men & women of TU633.2.7 Heron Rotation 10 who served alongside my husband in 2012/13, thank you for bringing him home safe. You’re my heroes!!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of loved ones who are currently deployed on operations with our Armed Forces. May they return home to you safely. For those of us who have the privilege of spending Christmas with our loved ones, hold them close.
