French press! International media is always exciting, especially when it relates to the work you do that you’re most passionate about on home soil. Here my profile has been published in the 2014 edition of ‘Miss Lyon Magazine'; a French-based magazine dedicated to showcasing the work of the Miss Lyon Committee and their delegates, with readership exceeding 1 million viewers (not bad for a quaint city dominated by world-renowned Paris)!
Miss Lyon Magazine: On the cover is the gorgeous Célie Laporte, Miss Lyon 2013, who will hand over the ‘Miss Lyon’ reign to the 2014 title holder at this Sunday’s Election (aka Pageant, there’s slightly different terminology here in France).
The majority of my readers don’t speak a word of French (join the club, although I have been trying my absolute best whilst here as the International Ambassador)… so to my French viewers please excuse the use of my good friend Google Translate…
Translation: Kate Johnson, Mrs Australia, A Miss from a far away land…
Translation: Kate pursues a successful career in modeling and has done a number of campaign shoots for major fashion houses, lingerie and beauty products. She is very sporty, enjoys exercising and scuba diving. She resides in Sydney and is the Mrs Australia elect. This healthy mind in a dream body admits that the sash and crown is a great tool for a cause dear to her heart: cancer awareness and body confidence. Great globetrotter, she is rejoiced to discover the capital of the Gauls, the area where food and wine are a beautiful marriage.
Translation: It is impossible for me to resist the call of the old continent! I am fortunate to travel a lot but I’ve never had the opportunity to come to Lyon. This will be a first! France to Australians is a country with a long history and a beautiful culture. In preparing for my visit, I took note of all the places and essential things to do in Lyon. Visit the multiple emblematic places, taste the celebrated worldwide kitchen… I hope there is enough time! It is with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation of the Miss Lyon Committee and I look forward to this meeting to discover France and the capital of the Gauls by participating in the Miss Lyon 2014, there to see what life is in pink!
Some phrases were a little lost in translation though you get the gist haha. For the young ladies of France who are interested in competing in the 2015 election, check out the official website @ miss-lyon.fr for more information or to apply. In the meantime…I am SO EXCITED for Sunday!! Good luck to all the beautiful ladies. Together with your families I will be cheering for each and every one of you. I am confident you will ALL shine!
